OrangeJackass took a roundabout route to get to a fantastic Internet resource called WealthyAffiliate.com.

First, we set up an experiment for testing whether Twitter Reciprocal Following was sweet or stupid (it’s stupid, for the most part.)

Then, because we like having topics to rant or rave about, we randomly clicked on one our followers, Vinnie DelMonte (who still hasn’t thanked us, yet!)

The link he (she?) tweeted was promoting GDI Twitter Secret.

We decided to test this system for the benefit of our readers, believe it or not. We wondered if, like Twitter Reciprocal Following, this program was yet another stupid gimmick.

GDI Twitter Secret: Our Verdict

Here’s the truth: it’s not stupid, but it is rather gimmicky. Once you go through the world’s shortest squeeze page and decide to give up your Twitter user name and password in exchange for the details, you are led down a very well-crafted trail that extracts money from your wallet as easy as 1-2-3! (Literally, three steps: the first is free, but virtually useless, the second costs $10/month and the third costs $29.95/month)

We were so impressed with the ease with which this process occurred that we decided to monetize this blog with the affiliate links!

However, this is not for everyone. There is a $125 carrot dangled out there (everyone knows that Jackasses love carrots!) and it is tempting to assume that you will cash it in quickly. The fact is just the opposite. The string that attaches to the carrot has a $75 “gotcha” on the other end.

If you ever hope to collect the guaranteed $125, you also have to earn $75 in commissions. Tissa Godavitarne, the affiliate marketer behind the GDI Twitter Secret, informs us that we must “learn to fish”. He recommends WealthyAffiliate.com. Arrgh! More money …

Presumably, some people might object to this method. However, it is simply an upsell – the affiliate marketers’ version of “Do you want fries with that?” If you’re hungry, you’re going to bite.

So, What is WealthyAffiliate.com?

To keep the fast food analogy going, WealthyAffiliate.com is like McDonald’s Hamburger University. Just as aspiring managers and franchisees learn everything about how to operate a McDonald’s restaurant successfully, aspiring affiliate marketers learn everything about promoting other business’ products and services. WealthyAffiliate.com has three major elements that are worth their weight in gold:

  • Learning Center
  • Tools
  • Forum

The Learning Center has guides, tutorials, videos and downloads. The wealth of information is divided into experience levels, so there is something for rank beginners as well as advanced marketers.

The Tools are spread throughout the site and would cost you hundreds of dollars if purchased separately!

The forums are active and have tons of practical advice from other marketers. We particularly enjoyed reading the success stories!

Taken singly, it’s obvious that these resources should be present in an educational website. Taken together, you will discover that the forum provides so much information, pointing to other parts of the website that, if you spend just two hours a day reading posts, you’ll get a decent “layman’s” foundation in Affiliate Marketing! Spend more time completing the tasks and assignments in the Learning Center and you will really begin to understand what it takes to be a successful Internet Marketer.

OrangeJackass has terminated its membership in the Wealthy Affiliate. It’s a fantastic resource, but you have to be FOCUSED. Don’t get caught up in all the methods. PICK ONE!
